We live in interesting times in which the self-consciousness of individuality is strengthened and, paradoxically, the group consciousness of the individual is also strengthened. This might be said to be the effect of the opposing forces of Leo and Aquarius respectively. Individuality has been strengthened for much time now under the cyclic impression of the energies of Leo. The energy of Aquarius, as we know, is now also exerting significant and steady pressure upon our little planet. As the two come together we reach a place of tension, a field of magnetic possibilities. As these seemingly opposing states of consciousness are strengthened humanity is slowly brought to the high spiritual realization of isolated unity. We become conscious of being not either individuality nor group, but both simultaneously. We tread the spiral of consciousness from duality to unity and our field of awareness expands from the individual to the whole that also contains the individual. It is an interesting state of possibilities for creativity that gives the server who is satiated with working as and for an individual self an entirely new field for exploration.

These possibilities are already being glimpsed and striven into by many of the spiritual aspirants in the world, as they are attracted to explore the various states of consciousness of Presence and non-duality. The magnetic appeal of these more expanded states of consciousness is great and the timing is exquisitely accurate for the striving group servers in the world now. The power of that magnetic pull is evidenced by the current popularity of the many books on the subject. Expanded states of consciousness that include more of the larger whole are topics of spiritual striving and exploration, concepts that pique intellectual curiosity, and points for discussion. Together and as a group, the individual aspirants and disciples in the world are exploring the many facets of the one Soul, their place and work as individuals within that Soul consciousness, and learning how to bring more unified purpose to human creativity.

The Tibetan master predicted the problem of conflict among groups-nations and organizations, which we currently face. As the powerful individual desires and illusion of separate responsibilities, purposes, and values becomes dominant in human consciousness along with the gradually growing sense of being integrally a part of a larger unified group, there exists the opportunity for the individual to become identified not with the larger group of all humanity, but with a smaller faction of the true group, such as a nation, religious or business organization. When this occurs the individual may be pulled to the smaller group, loose sight of right relations with the larger whole, and identify with a more regressive purpose that is only meeting the needs or ideals of that particular faction or group and may be in conflict or competition with other nations, organizations, and groups within the larger whole.

We do seem to see this problem occurring rampantly right now within humanity. It is skillful to realize what is happening and see the dangers with illumined clarity while at the same time searching for immediate solutions and striving into higher possibilities. The struggle right now is for humanity to see itself as a large all inclusive group that contains within it smaller associated and integrally "embedded" groups. This recognition is occurring. The reaction and effect on all of humanity of the actions of one nation has become painfully obvious and is forcing all of the nations to acknowledge the need to work together for a worldwide stability through right relations, harmony through conflict.

As the third ray activity works to straighten the forces within human activity that have become conflicted and competitive, the second ray activity continues to awaken the group Soul within humanity to its unity, and the first ray strengthens the unified group will and purpose that exists and that underlies and motivates all the many human groups. The many human groups and organizations are like a veil that hides the true underlying unity that is struggling to be realized by the racial consciousness as a whole. The task of those who are sensitive to that underlying unity is to strengthen their own realization of it, to act as if they were functioning from that state in consciousness during all their daily activity, and to thus anchor it and strengthen it within the racial consciousness. As this occurs we are creating the realization that each individual human conscious unit is an integrally and inseparable part of the larger group consciousness of humanity and thus bringing the realization of isolated unity into existence in the human mind.

The high states of spiritual consciousness that are possible when we follow along this current course with precision we can only begin to glimpse. Much of the time our vision and the tension of purpose remain focused on the resulting human activity rather than the possibilities for the future of the consciousness of the race as a whole. Our task in Leo is to strengthen our recognition and realization of our individuality as something that is literally embedded and integrated within the larger whole. Only in this way are we able to clearly see the needs of the whole and to align and cooperate with the divine will as the hierarchy works it out. Realization of the unity that is reality only occurs, paradoxically, through the realization and strengthening of our individual consciousness. We can, therefore, use the energies of Leo with its magnetic pull to individuality, paradoxically, to strengthen the group consciousness of humanity.

Let us pray and focus on the group consciousness of the race as it recognizes itself through the many individuals and smaller groups within itself and achieves unity and harmony through this expanded state of vision and loving will.
